I am a Sheffield-based craftsperson working primarily with clay. My ‘Rainbow Wares’ are a collection of weird and wonderful ceramics that take their inspiration from the natural world and mid-century modern pottery. I have a love of experimentation and endeavour to produce objects that others will find interesting and intriguing. Working on both the potter’s wheel and using handbuilding methods, I create succulent planters, buttons and toadstool ornaments that are vibrant and unusual, with unique surface decoration. I have been very creative for as long as I can remember but I’ve been focused on pottery in particular for about 10 years now. I love using clay as a material because it allows me to become really absorbed and relaxed. Its tactile qualities and almost magical processes help me change my focus and de-stress, something that is very important to me as a neurodivergent person in a world that feels increasingly chaotic and difficult to navigate. I find that engaging with clay can be really grounding – a stabilising force in my life that brings me a lot of joy!
